A question we hear a lot is: “Is a wedding hair and makeup trial run really necessary?”.
On one of the biggest days of your life, it’s so important to try to avoid any issues that may occur and make sure that the day goes completely smoothly!
You wouldn’t get married without a rehearsal or try your dress on only once, and it should be the same for your hair and makeup. For us, it’s super important that we meet our brides ahead of their weddings – not only to ensure we create the look they want, but to help them feel comfortable and to create a lasting relationship.
Here is what to expect during your wedding hair and makeup trial.
We will get to know each other
A trial run is more than just a practice run for hair and makeup. It’s important for us that you’re comfortable and that we can have a great time whilst creating your perfect look. At the trial we’ll spend a couple of hours together, talk through ideas and start to try them out. So, it’s quality time for us to get to know one another and bounce ideas around whilst having some fun with your look.
What suits you?
As professional wedding hair and makeup artists, we will always try to please our brides. Sometimes, the look you want is not always possible depending on your hair length or face shape. It is useful for us to understand the look and style that you are going for as well as the general theme and style for the whole day. Feel free to bring in some hair and makeup inspiration that you’ve seen to give us a starting point. Equally though, don’t worry if you’re unsure. We can work together to create something beautiful. Your wedding trial is the perfect time to discuss your options and to try different looks that will work for you.
Timing is everything!
Wedding day schedules tend to be pretty tight. Knowing exactly what look is desired and how long it takes to perform can save a lot of time. Take a look at my other tips ahead of your trial here.
Don’t forget – speaking from experience – good wedding hair and makeup artists get booked up SO quickly! I hate to disappoint brides-to-be, so make sure to get in touch as soon as you can if you’re interested in securing your wedding date with me.
