When you think of wedding dresses, your first thought might be of swathes of ivory material. Layer upon layer of lace, a tight bodice and a circumference the bride might have trouble walking in!
Recently though, all ideas of a traditional wedding dress have gone out the window. Kourtney Kardashian married Travis Barker in a lavish ceremony and had all of our eyes popping out on seeing her dress.
For their first, low-key ceremony in Santa Barbara, which was attended by just two witnesses (his father and her maternal grandmother), Kourtney wore a spaghetti-strapped minidress from Dolce & Gabbana. The mini dress’s corset was embellished with a heart and she accessorised the look with a demure veil that was attached to a pair of sheer sleeves. Love it!
Kourtney’s full wedding outfit was another little white dress by Dolce & Gabbana – this time custom-made by its couture atelier, Alta Moda – complete with an extravagantly long lace veil which was embroidered with the image of the Virgin Mary.
Congratulations Kourtney and Travis!
Mini Wedding Dresses for 2022
So, what do you think? Could you be tempted down the mini wedding dress route? Since the pandemic, things have swayed away from the purely traditional for modern brides: we’ve seen an uptick in brides’ opting for jumpsuits and simple slip dresses and it’s likely that short wedding dresses will join the ranks.
There’s one thing for certain – you won’t be tripping over or trailing your train in the mud! A big bonus: you could wear it again!
Take a look at these dresses for inspiration.
Plus, why stop at one dress? You could always wear a mini for the rehearsal dinner, reception, the journey to the honeymoon destination…all of which are perfect opportunities to remind everyone you’re the bride, but in a cute, slightly less formal dress. Shorter hemlines offer extra edge, practicality and mobility to your look.
